Ruka Nordic 2022 is being prepared with the help of pre-made snow.
FIS World Cup Ruka Nordic will be held again on November 25th-27th according to all plans . Ruka will be again the host for all three sports of Nordic skiing, which are Cross Country, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined.
The preparations for the World Cup have been progressing steadily during the exceptionally warm fall at Finland. Pre-made snow for both skiing tracks and ski jumping hill has been brought out from the storage. First snow has also arrived to Ruka during last week, which has been helping in creating great conditions for the competitions.
– Mild weather has been keeping us a bit tense, but we have no doubts that we wouldn’t be able to host FIS World Cup Ruka Nordic again, just like we’ve always hosted the competitions on time. This sort of weather has happened once before in 2018 and we are always prepared for these type of extraordinary conditions, says Head of Competitions Jukka Tahkola.
– We have been using ready-made snow from our storages to prepare 100m of the landing for the ski jumping hill. The rest of the snow will be transferred to the hill this week. The ice track of the upper hill has also been finished and frozen solid.
During the past weeks, snow has been made for the stadium area by using snow cannons as help. Thanks to this, there’s been no need to use ready-made storage snow for the preparations yet. The storaged snow will be used to prepare 3,3 km tracks. The weather forecast for next week is also promising cold weather, creating excellent conditions for finishing the preparations of the Ruka Nordic.
– This year we have really put effort towards making Ruka Nordic a special experience for all the visitors, so the whole event will most definitely be entertaining and fun! However, the most of the whole athmosphere is created by the fans, the spectators and the local people, who are always there to cheer their favourite athletes towards victories, says Tahkola.
