Anze Lanizek was the winner at Ruka – keeps the yellow bib

The weather has been a challenge this weekend in Ruka. Ski Jumping qualification had to be cancelled on Friday due to extremely strong winds. The Ski Jumping part of the Nordic combined was also cancelled on Saturday morning.  

Qualification´s best was World Cup´s third-ranked Daniel Tschofenig, who jumped 140 meters long jump and scored 130.4 points. Second place went to Norway´s Halvor Egner Granerud and third was Japan´s Ren Nikaido.

The best Finn was Vilho Palosaari with a 122.5-meter jump. He finished 21st and collected 100.3 points. Other Finns who qualified for the competition were Niko Kytösaho, Jarkko Määttä and Antti Aalto. The last Finn who made it to the competition was Antti Aalto, finishing 50th. 

After qualification the official competition began. When the first round started, four Finns remained. The best Finn in the first round was Niko Kytösaho who jumped 128.5 long jump and eventually finished eighth. The second Finn to reach the final round was Antti Aalto who was 29th with 99.1 meters long jump. 

Anze Lanisek won the competition with a 142-meter jump and collected 141 points. When the second round was about to begin the wind strengthened again and the competition had to be stopped. So Anze Lanisek was the best of all and won the competition on Saturday. After him was Japanese Ren Nikaido and Slovenian Domen Prevc.

The ski jumping weekend continues tomorrow. The trial round will take place at 10 a.m and the competition will start at 3.50 p.m.
