Men’s Nordic Combine started with Ski Jumping – T. Rettenegger in the lead
Despite the question marks caused by the wind condition in Ruka, Nordic Combine got off to a exciting start.
The top ten was well-anticipated, with maybe Jiawen Zhao being the only exception. Out of those who were considered strong in advance Johannes Lamparter finished in second place, Ilkka Herola in fifth and Julian Schmidt fourth.
Austria’s dominance in Nordic Combine at the moment is something we have to respect. Five athletes from top ten are from Austria. Ski Jumping was won by Thomas Rettenegger with 138 meter jump. Rettenegger had already jumped brilliantly in provisional competition round.
Wind was making it tricky and a lot of the jumpers were not satisfied with the result. Fifth place Ilkka Herola was very happy after the jump.
-I can say I was lucky with the weather conditions. Everybody who jumped at least okay in their own opinion can feel very lucky. Competition is open, skiing part decides everything.
It’s going to be really exciting individual compact race later today, starting at 4:15 PM
